Throughout the first few weeks of November, the Beaver Battalion was involved in various Veterans’ Day ceremonies in Linn and Benton Counties.

On Saturday, 11 November, the Beaver Battalion participated in the annual Albany Veteran’s Day Parade. The Albany Veteran’s Day Parade, one of the largest west of the Mississippi, has hundreds of participating groups and organizations and attracts thousands of spectators every year. The Battalion color guard proudly displayed the colors while the Beaver Battalion carried M16 rifles. The Battalion was led by unit leaders Midshipman 2/C Foersch and Midshipman 3/C Barajas. Cadence and rifle movements were intermittently called while the Battalion executed the movements to perfection.

The Beaver Battalion also participated in the POW/MIA flag walk and candlelight vigil on the Oregon State University campus. The POW/MIA flag walk and candlelight vigil are events that honor prisoners of war and service members missing in action. The flag walk was a continuous 12-hour event that brought together the Navy, Army and Air Force ROTC’s to march the POW/MIA flag on campus in remembrance of our past.  The candlelight vigil was lit for a continuous 24 hours on the Memorial Unit Quad.

The following weekend, 18 November, the Beaver Battalion participated in a 21 Gun Salute as part of Philomath’s patriotic parade and Veteran’s Day Celebration.
