Our Mission
For all the Midshipmen and Officer Candidates at OSU, involvement is more than just classroom instruction and drill. All battalion members are expected to participate in Unit extracurricular activities, either a team or club, as well as community service and fund raising activities. This enables students to develop self-confidence and leadership through participation in a wide range of activities, both sponsored by the Unit and the community. " Major Events Three of the major events sponsored by the Unit throughout the year are the Navy and Marine Corps birthday ball, Joint Service Review, and the Spring Dance. Every fall we celebrate the birthdays of the Navy and Marine Corps with a formal ball. In the spring the ROTC units on campus participate in the Joint Service Review, a ceremony in which all service units pass in review for spectators during Mom's Weekend. Near the end of the academic year, the battalion bids farewell to the graduating seniors with a Spring Dance.
