On April 29th, the Beaver Battalion hosted their annual Spring Awards ceremony; the first in-person awards ceremony in three years! The ceremony was held at the LaSells Stewart Center where friends and family were invited to support the midshipmen, OC’s, and MECEP’s in celebrating their hard work and dedication through the 2021-2022 school year. This event was also live-streamed and posted on the OSU NROTC Facebook Page so people were also able to attend online.
The awards ceremony was executed flawlessly with the help of LT Calderon-Lugo and the staff, as well as the Officer-In-Charge (OIC) MIDN Shu.
This year, 65 awards and $33,850 in scholarships, and 9 officer swords were awarded to deserving midshipmen, Officer Candidates, and Marines of the Beaver Battalion. These individuals have demonstrated outstanding achievement, aptitude, and dedication to Naval Service.
The event could not have happened without our wonderful award sponsors: the Benton Community Foundation, COL Michael Rainbolt (USA Ret.), LtCol Nelson Olf (USMC Ret.), the Benton Veterans Memorial Foundation (President is COL Cameron Little, USA), the Archie and Sue Lorentzen Education Endowment, and our amazing NROTC alumni. Thank you all so much for providing these awards to our hard-working midshipmen!
