LT Johnnie R. DeBoe, III, is a native of Pensacola, Florida. He graduated from University of West Florida in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and completed studies in nuclear power for service as a submarine officer in 2011.

His submarine assignment was onboard USS Columbia (SSN 771) from 2011 – 2014. His positions included Reactor Controls Assistant, Main Propulsion Assistant, Assistant Operations Officer, Assistant Weapons Officer, and Ship’s Diving Officer.  Additionally, USS Columbia (SSN 771) completed a successful WESTPAC deployment, a six-month DSRA, and was awarded the Battle Efficiency Award, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Arleigh Burke Fleet Trophy Award.

In June 2014, LT DeBoe assumed his position as Submarine Operations Officer (N8A) at COMDESRON 22 and completed a Fifth-Fleet deployment while onboard USS George H. W. Bush (CVN 77).  After deployment, he became the lead planner for the surface forces during two Submarine Commander’s Courses and a USW Certification event for USS The Sullivans (DDG 68), while simultaneously responsible for assisting six U.S. Destroyers through their basic phase training cycle for their upcoming deployment.

In February 2016, LT DeBoe reported to NROTC Oregon State University to serve as Assistant Professor of Naval Science and Junior Class Advisor.

LT DeBoe is authorized to wear the Navy Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
